In 2012 and 2013, Johannes Vermeer’s 1663 masterpiece, Woman Reading a Letter (also known as The Blue Lady), set off on a trip. It was quite an event, considering how seldom famous women from the Golden Age travel. But when they do, they are sure to attract the eyes of the world. Naturally, this famous painting not only travelled in comfort but with every detail of the itinerary meticulously planned. In recent years she has visited three continents care of KLM to announce the reopening of the Rijksmuseum. Today, she is back in her familiar home and ready to be admired.
