Group visits
Are you planning to visit the Rijksmuseum with friends, family or colleagues? Or would you like to book a group visit as a guide or tour operator, or for a company outing? Discover all the options for your visit here.
Good to know
You can book for several groups at the same time. But in the museum your group may consist of up to 15 people, whereby a child also counts as 1 person. With a tour guide, the total number of people is 16.
If you book for 12 guests or more, you’re eligible for our “fast lane access”. This could allow you to skip the queue for the entrance. Please register yourself and your group at the entrance on the side of the café. Our colleague will then check if and when you could skip the queue.
EXPLORE AND DISCOVER
You’re welcome to explore the Rijksmuseum with friends or as a family. Take a museum guidebook along with you or download the free app with tours and routes. Ask at the information desk for tips on how to get the best out of your visit.
TAKE A GUIDED TOUR OF THE MUSEUM
If you’d like to hear fascinating details about the art in the Rijksmuseum, then book a guided tour. Various tours are available with our own guides. Most tours are available in Dutch and English, and some also in other languages.
Would you like to visit the museum with your own tour guide, or are you a guide yourself? You are welcome to visit to the museum with an external tour guide, but some important changes have been made. Please see the information for tour guides below.
REGISTER AS A GUIDE
If you would like to give tours of the Rijksmuseum as an external guide, you now have to register in advance. This lets us know who we can expect, and it means we can provide you with the information you need to act as a guide at the museum. As a registered guide you will be invited to information sessions, and we will send you updates about new exhibitions and other Rijksmuseum news.
This registration is meant for professionals in tourism.
Registration is mandatory if you wish to give tours of the Rijksmuseum as an external guide.
Guidelines apply to guiding at the Rijksmuseum. To guide at the Rijksmuseum, an annual registration is required. Registrations for calendar year 2026 are now open. If you sign up now, the registration will be valid for 2025 and 2026. If you applied in 2025 you will need to reapply for 2026.
