Satire op de ballonvaarder, mogelijk op Barthélemy Faujas de Saint-Fond die in 1783-84 publiceerde over de vluchten van de gebroeders Montgolfier. Man loopt op schaatsen over het land richting poort 'temple du gout'. Aan zijn hoofd twee luchtballonnen. Op zijn rug hangt een door een rat aangevreten exemplaar van zijn boek 'Recherches sur les volcans éteints du Vivarais et du Velay' van 1778.
