Kimono

anonymous, 1910 - 1930

The decoration of this kimono was all painted by hand. First, the outlines were applied with rice paste, after which the shapes were painted in. the paste was then washed out, leaving a white line. Other details were added in silver and gold foil and embroidery with red lacquered paper.

    Formele kimono met lange mouwen voor een ongetrouwde jonge vrouw (furisode), over het hele vlak versierd met meer dan tweehonderd vliegende kraanvogels. Zwarte crêpe zijde (chirimen) met yuzen versiering in wit, rood en grijstinten, met detaillering in goudfolie. Voering van rode zijde. Enkel familiewapen (mon) van bamboe.
