Visiting the museum independently

Download the eZwayZ indoor navigation app. This app guides you through the museum using digital guidelines. The app also includes tours and provides descriptions of the artworks. Download the app in advance so you can prepare properly.

Once you’re in the museum, you’ll find an indoor audio model of the Rijksmuseum at the multimedia desk. Put on the headphones and experience the building. The model gives you insight into what the building looks like from the inside.

Guided tours for families and children or of permanent collection

Guided tours of the permanent collection can be booked year-round at a time that suits you. These are available for families and children as well as adults, with special tours for visitors who are blind or have low vision. You can book the tour for your own group of up to 8 people. This is available at a reduced price of €30.

Companions

If you are unable to navigate the museum independently, you may bring a companion. They may enter for free. However, they will need a (free) admission ticket and a start time. The start time must be reserved in advance. You can do so here. Select “other valid admission ticket” as the ticket option.

Accessibility map

Ask at the information desk for the accessibility map , which shows the locations of elevators, benches, accessible restrooms, etc.

Wheelchair-accessible restrooms with a low sink are available.

Changing place

The changing place is a changing room for adults and older children. It features a mobile lift with a sling, a bed, and a sink. There is no toilet available. You may also bring your own sling (with loops). Ask at the Information Desk for the location. We’ll be happy to show you the way.

Backpacks

Backpacks or oversized handbags are not permitted in the museum. Do you need to bring a bag into the museum for medical reasons? The Information Desk will gladly provide you with a label. This lets security know that your bag is permitted.
