Valley of Butterflies

Chizuko Yoshida (mentioned on object), 1979

In the late 1970s, Chizuko Yoshida shifted towards more figurative work. Butterflies, along with music, became recurring themes. In this print, Yoshida depicted numerous butterflies, aiming to convey the movement of a single butterfly. The inspiration for this print came from an experience during one of her many travels, when a butterfly fluttered closely around her head.
