anonymous, c. 1600 - c. 1625

The simple shape of this coupe emphasizes the natural colouration of the agate. A jeweller turned the cup into a work of art. He added a rock-crystal lid and foot, and crafted the gold soldier carrying the entire object on his shoulders.

Coupe van fraise bandagaat. Deksel en voet van loodglas met versieringen van goud en email. Als schacht een gouden en geëmailleerde musketier in Spaans kostuum, bezet met robijnen. Op voet en deksel gegraveerde ranken. Volgens Dr. Holzhauwer zijn voet en deksel van later datum.
