Vase with C-shaped Handles

This vase was dusted with wood ash. During firing the glaze turned an olive green in these places while the brown-burnt biscuit of the rest of the vessel was coated only with kiln gloss. This type of early green-glazed stoneware was made solely in southeastern China, from where it was widely distributed.

    Eivormige vaas van steengoed met een spreidende hals en platte rand, gedeeltelijk bedekt met een groen glazuur. Op de buik horizontale ribben; de schouder met twee C-vormige oren met een gemodelleerde S-vormige decoratie aan de bovenzijde. Op de hals een ingegrifte, decoratieve band. Een barst in de rand. Celadon (Yue).
