After he settled in Nuremberg, Van der Schardt, originally from the Low Countries, concentrated on making lifelike painted portrait busts and reliefs of wealthy citizens. Portrayed here is Johann Neudörffer the Younger, the municipal calligrapher and mathematician. He belonged to the city’s cultural elite.

    Portretbuste van een man, van gepolychromeerd terracotta. De man draagt een wambuis of kolder en een plooikraag met liggende plooien. De kraag is aan de achterkant verloren gegaan en er zijn kleine beschadigingen aan de rand van de kraag en de onderkant van het borstbeeld. De kop is apart opgezet.
