Penseeltekening in zwartwit van de hoogte van Montferland met omgeving van bouwland, een molen en een weg met kar, paard en menner. Met opschrift. Onderdeel uit het schetsboek van Jan Brandes, dl. 2 (1808), p. 34 en zie p. 35.

• inscription: ‘chronologon Thesauris excisis oswaldus me struxit.
  chronodisticon rudera si puduit tristesque habitare ruinas en nova structa tibi regia pluto redi’
• inscription: ‘Monfer (monsfortis) berg, daar stond nu een Jagerhuys op, waarschynlyk eerst een romynsche vesting’
• inscription: ‘NB aan een hoek op de berg was een verwelft gat daar is een schat ingevonden, dat is de oorzaak van dit versje
  In puduit (te) habitare rudera
  indien gy (o Pluto) schaamde te woonen onder de puynhoopen
  et ruinas tristes o Pluto redi
  en onder de akelige puynhoopen de schat komt weer om ziet
  regia nova structa tibi
  ... is een nieuw palys voor u gebouwd.’
