Model van een kettingstopper tussen twee dekken, bestaande uit een glijbaan voor de ketting op een klos en doorlopend door het bakboord kluisgat, en een zware duivelsklauw hangend aan een klos aan de scheepswand. Een houten ketting met namaakgewicht is aan het model toegevoegd. Schaal 1:10 (schatting).

Explanatory note

  • Deze kettingstopper diende om die in de hoek van het grootluik te vervangen. Luitenant Bechameil werd voor deze uitvinding met een promotie in de Franse Marine beloond.

Entry

Model of a stopper on a deck, consisting of a slide for the chain on a chock continuing through the port hawsehole, and a heavy claw stopper hanging from a chock against the side of the ship. A wooden chain with a dummy weight has been added to the model.

This stopper replaced the one at the corner of the cable hatch. The inventor, the French Lieutenant Béchamiel, was rewarded with a promotion in the French Navy for this design.1J.M.
