Vier mannen zitten rondom een rechthoekige tafel een partijtje kaart (whist) te spelen. Aan elke zijde van de tafel zit een persoon. Er branden twee kaarsen. De rechter man draagt een rode officiersjas en ook de man die we op de rug zien is gelet op zijn kleding een militair. De overige twee mannen zijn in burger gekleed. Mogelijk stelt een van de afgebeelde personen op deze tekening William Leckie voor.
