Interior with Three Men Looking at a Print
anonymous, c. 1900 - c. 1950
Three men are engrossed in a work on paper. For this ink wash drawing the anonymous draughtsman loosely copied a drawing by the French caricaturist Jean-Honoré Daumier. The artist meticulously imitated Daumier’s sinuous drawing style, managing to convey movement and expression. Intentionally left unfinished, the drawing invites the viewer into a dynamic world in keeping with the caricature tradition.
