Kleurtekening van een aantal huizen aan zee tegen een achtergrond van een steile groene kust. De tekening is gemaakt vanaf de voor anker liggende Oostindiëvaarder 'Holland'. Een sloep vaart mensen naar de wal. Met opschrift. Onderdeel uit het schetsboek van Jan Brandes, dl. 2 (1808), p. 67.

inscription: ‘The white house sint mawes in Falmouth Harbor. dit huys was een woning van een arme dagloner met een vrouw en twee kindertjes. het was van binnen leedig en vervallen en diende tot een lynbaan. en heeft een stem in 't parlement van Engeland.’
