The Latin inscription on this pyx from The Hague reads as follows: ‘De virgine natum anno MCDXCV’ (Born of the Virgin, from the year 1495). This is a reference to the host, the symbolic body of Christ, who was born of the Virgin Mary.

    Pyxis van zilver. Achtzijdig en steunend op vier leeuwen. Langs het deksel een opengewerkte staande rand van fleurons. Het deksel is versierd met graveerwerk.
