Just how great the effect of colour was became clear in the final design stage. Bruna did not use perspective, an example he had seen with Matisse and found liberating. Hence, colour was one of the few visual means for suggesting three-dimensionality. A cool colour, such as blue, recedes, while a red one appears to come forward
