Getting started with the collection:
Oura settlement in Nagasaki
anonymous, c. 1865 - c. 1875
In the period that the Bauduins were in Japan, Dejima was no longer the only place they could live. Dutch and other foreigners settled in a new neighbourhood called Oura. It is not clear precisely when this picture was taken. It may not have been until after 1870, when Antoon returned to the Netherlands. Possibly, it was Albert who took it home.
