Chintz with Garlands and Bouquets

In the 17th and 18th century chintz was the most fashionable material for interior decoration throughout Europe. (An example can be seen in the Dolls’ House in Gallery 2.20). This piece was originally meant as a wall covering. However judging from its almost pristine condition it was probably never used.
