Purse with a clasp of lion’s heads

anonymous, c. 1820 - c. 1830

Bags with silver clasps became fashionable at the end of the 17th century. Soon thereafter, purses were also provided with clasps made of other precious metals. The bags remained fashionable up to the early 20th century. The silk thread of this purse has been worked into points in an unknown technique.
