The Standard Bearer art route

Are the children accompanying you totally into the amazing world of standard bearers and militia guilds? Then be sure to follow the standard bearer art route! It will take you all around the museum, discovering paintings and other objects that tell you all about these groups of 17th-century men. Just pick up the folder with the route at the information desk.
Life drawing
Location: Picnic area
Times: 11:00 – 16:00
What’s the best way to draw a standard bearer? Come and find out at this life-drawing workshop at the Picnic area in the Rijksmuseum. Become a real Rembrandt and test your drawing skills with real-life models in costume.

Have you always wanted a photo of yourself together with Rembrandt’s standard bearer? All day long there will be an actor dressed exactly like Rembrandt’s famous figure walking around the museum.

Has seeing The Standard Bearer left you bursting with all sorts of questions? You’re welcome to put all your questions to our museum educators. You will find them walking around the Gallery of Honour all day today, and they can tell you anything you want to know about the painting, the artist or the building.
Digital Rembrandt tour
The more you know, the more you see! So follow the Rembrandt audio tour to hear all about the most famous Dutch artist – and his pupils. Before you know it, you’ll be the expert telling everyone else about the painting! Listen to the Rembrandt tour for free in the Rijksmuseum app. If you didn’t bring your own smart phone or earbuds, you can also rent a device at the multimedia desk in the Atrium.
