João was captured in Africa along with many others and was taken in a fully loaded ship to? Brazil. There an unfree life on a plantation awaited him. What/Who keeps you going in emergency situations? How do you find courage? How important are your imagination and perseverance?
ACTIVITY
In the Rijksmuseum we are answering these questions by carving your text into wooden boards. This can also be done on pieces of cardboard that are attached to the artwork.
