See a selection of exceptional art from the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen this autumn at the Rijksmuseum – from Yayoi Kusama to Pablo Picasso. And everyone outside the museum on Museum Square will be able to see Ugo Rondinone’s light installation Breathe, Walk, Die.
Selection from the collection
Rotterdam in Amsterdam? Until January 14, 2024, approximately 90 works from the Boijmans Van Beuningen collection are staying in the Rijksmusem. From Yayoi Kusama to Pablo Picasso: diverse works come together in the exhibition 'Boijmans van Beuningen at Rijksmuseum'. Works of art by Pieter Bruegel, Edgar Degas and Cindy Sherman relate to human life, from birth to death. Travel through human existence with art from the Middle Ages to the present.

All of human life
The exhibition is based around various themes, allowing for the display of a wide range of artworks from all historical eras. Exhibits include The Tower of Babel by Pieter Bruegel, The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer by Edgar Degas and Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Room. Rijksmuseum curator Friso Lammertse says: ‘This exhibition takes a journey into human existence through art from the Middle Ages to today. While so many aspects of human life are universal – birth, youth, growing up, sexuality, ageing and death – we have experienced them differently across the centuries.’
