After Hours: Ed van der Elsken
AUDITORIUM: IN CONVERSATION WITH MARWAN MAGROUN (IN DUTCH)
Amber Kortzorg will moderate a talk with Marwan Magroun (Rotterdam, 1985). Marwan is a Dutch-Tunisian photographer and filmmaker. With his bicultural background, Marwan has a unique perspective on social issues, which is reflected in his photographs and projects. He has been working full-time as a photographer since 2017 and has held the title of Photographer of the Netherlands since 2022. Over the course of two sessions, he will share his perspective on the craft of photography and the work of Ed van der Elsken.

What makes a Fiep Westendorp character so recognisable? Experiment with different drawing techniques and translate this into your own illustration.

DJ, singer-songwriter and Private Hearts radio host Elias Mazian delves into Dutch-language music for this edition of After Hours. In a three-hour show, he’ll take you on a journey through songs that tell stories and are honest. Just as Ed van der Elsken did with his camera.

Create your own zine
What would you like to preserve for the city of tomorrow? In this workshop, hosted by Aike Matilde and Amsterdam Museum Night, you’ll get to work on your own zine. You’ll create, print, fold and distribute these small publications yourself.

Fiep Westendorp
Jip and Janneke, Pim and Pom, Pluk van de Petteflet. Chances are you grew up with these characters without ever knowing who drew them. The museum is now exhibiting around 150 original drawings by illustrator Fiep Westendorp. From early sketches to the illustrations that have stayed with generations of children.
