Baker McKenzie
Baker McKenzie Amsterdam is supporting the Rijksmuseum with new research into underrepresented histories. The research focuses on historically underrepresented subjects, including queer history. The museum’s collection, which spans from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, forms the basis for this work. The Rijksmuseum carries out research to gain new insights, tell more complete stories and share them with the world. The appointment of a researcher and the related public programme are made possible by Baker McKenzie.
Baker McKenzie previously supported the Rijksmuseum’s acquisition of 20th century photography. This support has helped fund the Rijksmuseum’s acquisition of photographs from the late 19th century to 1980. The collection has a notable emphasis on American photography, with photographic works by Lewis Hine, Robert Frank, Helen Levitt, László Moholy-Nagy, Lartigue, Brassaï, Bill Brandt, Robert Capa, Eva Besnÿo and Man Ray. These photographers helped shape the image of a new age. Thanks to purchases made with Baker McKenzie’s support, the Rijksmuseum can present an outstanding overview of developments in international photography.
