Symposium Women in the Museum

Women in the Museum is an international symposium series organized by the Women of the Rijksmuseum project group. Each year, it brings together an international community of museum professionals, scholars, and other interested audiences at the Rijksmuseum to discuss gender and women’s issues within a museum context, exchange knowledge, and inspire one another.

On 9 and 10 March 2026, the fifth edition will take place, titled Women in the Museum XL: The (Museum’s) Future is Female.
