Multimedia tours

Discover for yourself all the great attractions the Rijksmuseum has to offer with multimedia tours. Hear the stories from the Rijksmuseum. Meet Rembrandt and get to know what makes him so special. Or read about our history and the building. Learn more and see more through interviews with experts and artists. Get to know the museum in whatever way suits you best – it’s easy to decide your route. The navigation system’s directions will lead you from room to room around an interactive floor plan.

Search by number

If you are walking through the museum without following a specific tour or route you can still easily get more information about a specific object through the app. Just type in the number next to the object in our app under Search and discover more about the object.

You can choose to take the tours in the museum using a headset (€5), or install the app on your tablet or smartphone and download them for free.

New: Create your own route

From now on you can also create your own route through the museum along your favourite works in Rijksstudio. For example, follow your own route past your favourite flower still lifes, past your collection of animals in the Rijksmuseum or past windmills from your own collection of windmills in Rijksstudio.

Here you can read more on how you can easily create your own route in 6 steps past works in your own Rijksstudio collections.

New: search by artwork, artist or keyword

You can also easily search in the app by the name of an artwork, artist or keyword. For example, you can easily find the works of the Haagsche School, the work of Mondrian or The Jewish Bride. The app then gives you more information about the work and leads you to its location in the museum.

Experience the collection at home

Before or after your visit, you can experience your favourite artworks in our collection from the comfort of your own home, thanks to the Rijksstudio. Scroll and swipe through the artworks, and zoom in to see even the smallest details. You can even save the images easily in your own personal Rijksstudio collection.

The Rijksmuseum app makes it easy to book your tickets and save them on your smartphone so our staff can scan them when you get to the museum.
