Zwarte Beertjes (Little Black Bears) Series

Dick Bruna (mentioned on object), 1968

In 1962 Dick Bruna exhibited his book covers at Steendrukkerij De Jongh en Co., where designers such as Willem Sandberg and Dick Elffers also showed their work. This signified recognition for him on the part of his colleagues. The little flat books were incorporated into pillars, giving rise to a three-dimensional installation. An inquisitive Gerrit Rietveld expressed his admiration for this architectonic solution. The pillars in this gallery allude to this historical event.
