Yellow Iris

Fujio Yoshida (mentioned on object), 1954

Fujio Yoshida was intrigued by abstract art early on, a style her husband disapproved of. At times, she would secretly experiment with abstract work at night. She drew inspiration from the distorted view of flowers and plants when seen through a glass vase. The organic forms are recognizable in the adjacent watercolour, for example, in the light passages of the flower vase.
