Fujio Yoshida (mentioned on object), c. 1915 - c. 1920

Foreign travels were a source of inspiration for Fujio Yoshida’s early work. Contrary to the spirit of the times, she continued to paint after the birth of her children. The death of her young daughter and the illness of her son burdened her with great guilt. She ceased working for many years. When she resumed painting, she focussed more on indoor scenes.
