Woman Bathing her Feet in a Brook

Rembrandt van Rijn (mentioned on object), 1658

Even though the title of this print describes exactly what we see here, it still does not explain everything. For instance, where is this woman sitting? Judging from the foliage in the background, she is outdoors. However, the backrest behind her suggests that she is seated on a chair. If, in fact, this is an outdoor scene, Rembrandt must have brought along a seat for his model.
