View of the Tafelberg

Jacob Cats (1741-1799), c. 1795

This panorama invites viewers to lose themselves in it. In the kilometres-wide landscape we come across travellers, hunters and a shepherd with his flock of sheep. With its view – on one side stretching over the heaths and on the other over fields with the Utrecht Hill Ridge in the distance – the Tafelberg was a popular destination for day-trippers.
