Lady Slipper Orchid

Fujio Yoshida (mentioned on object), 1954

Fujio Yoshida worked in a figurative style for a long time, but after the death of her husband felt free to create more abstract work. These prints feature organic forms based on flowers and plants. Yoshida was also committed to the Shuyokai, the first association for women painters in Japan, which provided training and opportunities for exhibiting their paintings.
