The Descent from the Cross

Rembrandt van Rijn (mentioned on object), 1642

This is a totally different interpretation of the Descent from the Cross. Most of the figures are little more than outlines. With Rembrandt, the dividing line between lightly etched and unfinished is not always clear, but this print seems to fall in the latter category. He himself allegedly once said that a work of art is finished when the master has realized his intentions. Duly noted!
