The Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, with the Temple of Minerva Medica in the Foreground

Josephus Augustus Knip, c. 1809 - c. 1812

Knip combined a view at left of the basilica of Saint John Lateran (San Giovanni in Laterano) – recognizable by its tall façade statues of Christ, John the Baptist, John the Evangelist and the Church Fathers – with a fragment of the ancient Temple of Minerva Medica. In reality, the basilica would have been behind him. Two other fragments of this drawing are also on view (adjacent).
