Overgrown Rocks

Josephus Augustus Knip, c. 1809 - c. 1812

Some worked-up, overgrown rocks, and a pair of cypresses and other trees drawn in outline, and nothing else. With Knip, less is often more: the simpler the motif, the more impressive the drawing. Unfortunately, the draughtsman neglected to note where he recorded this little patch of nature, but judging from the cypresses at the left, it must have been in Italy.
