Chairs of this type, with a tall, richly worked back, were placed in rows against a wall. They were part of the decoration of a room. The carving of the back of this chair is French in style and was based on decorative prints by Daniël Marot. A Roman emperor is represented in the middle.

    Stoel van notenhout. Het meubel heeft een beklede zitting en rust op balustervormige poten met geribde bolvoeten, die door een geslingerd X-vormig kruis zijn verbonden. De voorpoten zijn versierd met acanthusblad en kelkbladeren. De hoge, opengewerkte en gebeeldhouwde rug rust op gelede stutten. De hoekstijlen zijn bovenaan gebogen. Binnen het raam vertoont de rug in reliëf een vrouweborstbeeld en profil binnen toegewende C-voluten met een schelpmotief en omgeven door gebroken voluten en acanthusblad.
