Stereoscopic X-radiographs of the vascular system, 1901
Otto Hildebrand, 1911
Hildebrand was a German pathologist and surgeon. With his colleagues from the Hamburg hospital, he made 3D X-ray images in 1901. The wondrous interplay of veins was made visible by injecting contrast dye into the human body’s vascular system. Ten of these photographs were issued by the scientific publisher J.F. Bergmann as a series that was reprinted several times. Das Arteriensystem des Menschen im stereoskopischen Röntgenbild (The human vascular system in a stereoscopic X-ray image) possibly served as educational material for students.
