Self-Portrait

Gerard Fieret (signed by artist), c. 1965

Because of his background and wartime experiences, the artist, poet, and drifter Gerard Fieret was a tormented man. In the 1960s and 70s he took raw and grainy photographs of the scores of women he brought to his studio. In this large dark photograph he aimed the camera at himself.
