The popular ancient epic Ramayana is a saga of exile and separation that exemplifies virtuous conduct and spiritual ideals. The protagonist Rama is a divine prince and is known as one of the avatars of the Hindu deity Vishnu. In this scene, the ideal couple Rama and Sita sit on a throne and are being paid homage by the delicately portrayed monkey-god, Hanuman.

    Op een platform voor een paleis zit een vorstelijk paar, rechts achter hen een dienaar met een veren waaier, voor hen links de koning van apen, Hanuman, die hen eerbetoon verleent. Rondom de voorstelling een smalle oranje en een smalle gouden rand.
