De bejaarde vrouw zit, naar rechts gedraaid, in een leunstoel. Zij draagt een zwart weduwenkapje, houdt in haar ene hand een gebedenboekje en in de andere een zakdoek. Zij draagt een witte molenkraag en een zwart kostuum, waarvan haar overkleed is afgezet met bont. Het rode gordijn, dat links van haar hoofd is gedrapeerd, laat een doorkijkje zien naar een blauwe lucht. Rechts is een muur met een nis en een oude treurende herme op de achtergrond. Dit motief en de bloeiende tulp in de nis bevestigt de status van de geportretteerde als weduwe. De tulp wijst op de vergankelijkheid. Zij was de weduwe van Bartholomeus Le Witer, die tussen 3 april 1612 en 15 januari 1613 overleden moet zijn en met wie zij in 1587 was gehuwd. Magdalena de Cuyper zette de zijdehandel van haar man voort na diens dood. Tot hetzelfde ensemble behoort het portret van de zoon van de geportretteerde, Rogier Le Witer (SK-A-4971) en diens echtgenote Catharina Behaghel (SK-A-4972).
