Gunlock (Percussion) for a Carronade

Percussieslot, zwart geverfd, dat over de slotsteun heen gemonteerd wordt. Ter plaatse van het zundgat is een ovaal gat; de hamer, aan de rechterzijde gemonteerd, is gebogen om in het midden van het gat terecht te komen. Het trekkertouw is origineel en is halverwege de hamer vastgemaakt, vanwaar het over een schijfje en dan onder de hamer door naar achteren door een ring wordt geleid. Schaal 1:1.

Entry

Gunlock (percussion), painted black, to be mounted over the vent patch.

The hammer, mounted on the right-hand side, is cranked, in order to come down in the middle of a hole, left open for the vent. The lanyard is original and fastened halfway up the hammer, whence it runs through a small sheave and then back underneath the hammer through a ring.

This lock is a prototype that was not accepted by the Dutch Navy.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 704.
