Model van een deel van een achterschipconstructie (stuurboord): elliptisch hek, gedeeltes van achtersteven, roersteven, wulfconstructie. In het gat voor de schroeflichtinstallatie is een zwartgeverfd sluitstuk aangebracht, dat met messing borgpennen vastgezet is; twee haken met ogen dienen voor het lichten van deze klep. Schaal 1:10 (afgeleid).

Explanatory note

  • Het gat in het wulf werd gesloten als de schroef neergelaten was en de reep uit het schroefraam was verwijderd, om water dat door de koker naar boven kwam bij het stampen tegen te houden. De klep werd van hout of van ijzer gemaakt. In 1856 is deze op de Soembing beproefd.

Model of part of the starboard side of an elliptical stern, showing the parts of sternpost, rudderpost and counter. In the well a black locking plate is fitted, sealing off the hole of the well in the counter. It is fastened with brass catches and has two hooks with eyes for lifting.

It is unclear whether this model is the original number 106 or 107. According to the transfer papers of 1889, number 106 was retained by the Department of the Navy. The original label is numbered 106, crossed out with pencil and in handwriting ‘107’ has been added. Both models represented the same construction and both were made in Flushing.1J.M. We chose to follow the original label on the model. The hole in the counter was closed after lowering the screw frame and removing the tackle, to prevent water from coming up through the well. The locking plate is made of either wood or iron. In 1856 tests were carried out with this type of well on the Soembing.2HNA 2.12.01 Min. Marine, Exh. 26/2/1857 N47, 4/3/1857 N81, 26/5/1857 N43.
