anonymous, c. 1700

This personal treasure was probably of great value to someone. Mary Magdalene doing penance is drawnwith great care on the parchment. The ornamental border consists of flowers fashioned from tiny pieces of silk glued together. Used as a prayer card, this object may have been made by a clergywoman in the Southern Netherlands or Southern Europe.
