Cupboard

This large, austere cupboard has elements derived from Classical architecture, such as the three fluted pilasters. The cupboard is ornamented just below the upper edge with whimsical carved human and animal heads. This kind of grand cupboard was usually placed in the voorhuis, or entrance hall of a stately house.

    Kast van eikenhout met Ionische kapitelen. De twee deuren vertonen twee boven elkaar geplaatste gecorniste panelen met gestoken cartouches in de middenstukken. De consoles van de kap zijn versierd met een mannenkop, een vrouwenkop en monsterkoppen. De middelste console draagt op een cartouche het jaartal 1607. Het meubel rust op gecorniste voetklossen.
