Gepolychromeerd mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een tweemaster. De huid boven het barkhout is dicht. Het is een platbodem vaartuig met een rond achterschip zonder bovenbouw; het roer heeft een breed blad, de helmstok komt boven het dek. Zeeg naar voor en achteren oplopend, één barkhout en één reehout. Het schip heeft een achteroverhellende grote mast en een bijna recht staande bezaansmast.

  • Volgens Obreen zijn naar dit model in 1798 vier schoeners van 4 stukken door P. Glavimans Jz. gebouwd: de Salamander, de Sphynx, de Meeuw en de List. De typering van deze vaartuigen als 'schoener' lijkt ons betwijfelbaar.

Entry

Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted vessel, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. Above the wale the side is planked. Both the bow and stern are round. The rudder has a broad blade and rises above the deck with a hand tiller. The sheer rises to both ends. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated, both are painted black. The hull is flat-bottomed and is painted white below the waterline. The position of two masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form.

According to Obreen four 4-gun schooners were built according to this model by Pieter Glavimans Jansz (1768-1850) in 1798: Salamander, Sphynx, Meeuw and List.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 388.
