Gepolychromeerd mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een driemaster. De huid boven het barkhout is gesloten. Tien geschutpoorten op één dek, halfdek door één gilling aangegeven. Gewrongen spiegel, hol wulf, gesloten hek met twee lichten, geen zijgalerij; recht roer met vierkante roerkoning. Zeeg naar achter oplopend, één barkhout en één reehout. Gepiekt rondspant. Schaal ca. 1:55 (afgeleid).

Entry

Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a three-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard painted black.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. Above the wale the side is planked. Ten black gun ports are painted on the side, indicating one continuous deck. The quarterdeck hance ends in a volute. The sheer rises towards the stern. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated, the former is painted black. The bow features an empty beakhead and a large bollard timber. The stern has a round tuck, a hollow counter and a closed, rounded taffrail with two windows. The model does not have galleries. Below the stern a straight, square-headed rudder is indicated. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. The position of three masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form.

Obreen lists only one model of the 20-gun sloops of war Lynx and Venus, whereas two have been found (see model NG-MC-336-2).1J.M. The 20-gun sloop of war Lynx, 120 feet long, was built by Pieter Glavimans Jansz (1768-1850) in Rotterdam in 1806, while Venus, with the same armament and measurements, was built by Pieter Schuijt Jr (active 1796-1841) in Amsterdam in the same year. Venus operated mainly in the Dutch East Indies and was transferred to the Colonial Navy in 1821. The sloop was broken up in 1823.2A.J.
