Group portrait of two men

attributed to Antoon Bauduin, 1862 - 1866

In a letter dated 1867, Albert complained that he had had ‘not a day without guests who stayed the night’ in six years: ‘I’m fed up & I should like nothing better than rest & freedom, but when?’ In addition to his job with the trading company, Albert was also the Dutch consul. This would explain why so many people stayed with him.
