Fragment van een scheepsvlag, bijna de gehele linker helft, met een rood kruis (St. George's cross) op een witte achtergrond, en een dubbele rood-wit geblokte rand. Deze vlag is een 'Guinea Jack', die door de Engelse Royal Africa Company werd gevoerd. Dit exemplaar is waarschijnlijk in 1665 veroverd van het fort Cormantijn op de kust van West Afrika.

Entry

Fragment of a ship flag, almost the entire hoist half, bearing a red cross (St George’s cross) on a white background with a double border of red and white checks.

This is a ‘Guinea Jack’ of the Royal Africa Company. It is thought to have been captured by Lieutenant Admiral Michiel Adriaensz de Ruyter (1607-1676) off the coast of West Africa in 1665.
