Box of 26 Jacket and 18 Waistcoat Buttons

anonymous, c. 1810 - c. 1829

Nowadays, clothes come with buttons already attached, but in the past they would be added separately. This stunning set shows how buttons were presented: like jewels in their own box. They belong to a jacket and a waistcoat that were part of a formal outfit.
