Coupe with medallions of figures of gods

Pierre Raymond (c. 1513–after 1584), Limoges, c. 1550, enamel on copper

Pierre Raymond’s workshop specialized in enamelled copper tableware, including jugs, plates, salt cellars and beakers. They were not meant for actual use, but rather to grace the art cabinets of the European elite. The lid is decorated with depictions of the mythological gods and the arms of the Van Beaumont family of Dordrecht.
